UV-327

Description

UV-327 is a benzotriazole-type ultraviolet absorber, designed to provide excellent protection against UV-induced degradation. It absorbs UV radiation in the 290–400 nm range and is especially useful in applications where lightfastness, gloss retention, and surface protection are critical.

Unlike benzophenone-type absorbers, UV-327 offers superior thermal stability, making it ideal for materials processed at high temperatures or exposed to long-term outdoor environments.

Mechanism & Features

  • Broad-spectrum UV absorption (especially UVA)
  • High thermal resistance and low volatility
  • Long-lasting protection in exterior applications
  • Suitable for polyolefins, styrenics, coatings, TPU, and adhesives
  • Minimal impact on transparency or mechanical properties
  • Compatible with other stabilizers like HALS

FAQ

Q1: What polymers is UV-327 compatible with?
It works well in PE, PP, ABS, TPU, PU, PVC, PC, and more. Also suitable for solvent-based coatings and adhesives.

Q2: Can UV-327 be used with HALS or antioxidants?
Yes. It is often used with HALS like Tinuvin 770 and antioxidants (e.g. AO-1010) to form a full weathering protection system.

Q3: Is UV-327 heat stable during processing?
Yes. It remains stable in high-temperature applications such as extrusion or injection molding.

Q4: Can it be used in food-contact applications?
Please check local regulations (e.g., FDA, EU 10/2011). Some grades may not be food-safe.

Q5: How long does it protect the product?
UV-327 is designed for long-term outdoor exposure, typically lasting years depending on dosage and environment.
